About the Artists
This first concert of 2024 at the historic St. George’s Church will take us on a journey of jazz stretching from the 1950s to modern day.
Originally from France, singer Estelle Ory invites you to discover her bewitching musical universe tinged with groove. After a stint at the Olivier Messiaen Conservatory in Digne-les-Bains and professional training in Nantes, she took to the stage performing French variety, rock and pop. Eager to learn more, she chose to pursue her passion on the other side of the ocean by joining the Professional Music and Song Techniques program offered by the Cégep de Drummondville, where she specializes in Pop-Jazz singing. Inspired by the playful rhythms and committed lyrics of the group L'Impératrice, the suave voice of Tom Misch, and the sensitivity of Norah Jones, Estelle Ory embraces a style that blends the depth of soul, the emotion of jazz, and the energy of funk through a repertoire mixing traditional jazz with the new-jazz scene.
Chad Therrien is currently in his second year in the "virtuoso" music profile at the Cégep de Drummondville specializing in jazz guitar. He began playing at 10 years old and at 15 years old he began accumulating professional experience in the field of jazz. He continues to flourish artistically and professionally by working on different projects such as performing in concert, hosting jam sessions, and composing for films and commercials.
Léonard Mayrand is a passionate bass player, always hungry for musical challenges and ready to explore new styles that are outside of his comfort zone. Initially inspired by metal and rock, he broadened his horizons to dive into the world of jazz, drawing inspiration from musical legends such as Chick Corea, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Jaco Pastorius. He will continue his studies at Université Laval next year.
Percussionist Olivier Nolet-Laquerre studied music at Le Boisé High School for five consecutive years before joining the Professional Music and Song Techniques program at the Cégep de Drummondville. He is inspired by the works of Larnell Lewis, Dave Weckl, Benny Greb, among others. He distinguished himself at the Soloist Competition in 2022 by winning the gold medal in his category. Olivier represents the Cégep in the Stage Band and travels to Toronto this year for Music Fest Canada.

À propos des artistes !
Originaire de France, la chanteuse Estelle Ory vous invite à découvrir son univers musical envoûtant teinté de groove. Après un passage au conservatoire Olivier Messiaen de Digne-les-Bains et une formation professionnelle à Nantes, elle monte sur scène pour interpréter de la variété française, du rock et de la pop. Désireuse d'en apprendre davantage, elle choisit de poursuivre sa passion de l'autre côté de l'océan en rejoignant le programme Techniques Professionnelles de Musique et de Chanson offert par le Cégep de Drummondville en Chant Pop-Jazz. Inspirée par les rythmes enjoués et les textes engagés du groupe L'Impératrice, la voix suave de Tom Misch et la sensibilité de Norah Jones, Estelle Ory adopte un style qui allie la profondeur de la soul, l'émotion du jazz et l'énergie du funk à travers un répertoire mêlant le jazz traditionnel à la nouvelle scène jazz.
Chad Therrien en est à sa deuxième année au Cégep de Drummondville dans le profil musique " virtuose " avec une spécialisation en guitare jazz. Il a commencé à jouer à l'âge de 10 ans et à 15 ans, il a commencé à accumuler de l'expérience professionnelle dans le domaine du jazz. Il continue de s'épanouir artistiquement et professionnellement en travaillant sur différents projets tels que des concerts, l'animation des « jams » et la composition pour des films et des publicités.
Le percussionniste Olivier Nolet-Laquerre a étudié la musique à l'école secondaire Le Boisé pendant cinq années consécutives pour se rendre en Technique Professionnelle de Musique et Chanson à Drummondville. Il s'inspire des œuvres de Larnell Lewis, Dave Weckl, Benny Greb, entre autres. Il s'est distingué au Concours Solistes en 2022 en remportant la médaille d'or dans sa catégorie. Olivier représente le Cégep dans le Stage Band et et se déplace à Toronto cette année pour le « Music Fest Canada ».
