Launched online in April 2020, the MCQ Gardening Collective was created out of the pandemic-induced gardening and gardening-interest boom. We viewed this increasing curiosity about growing one’s own food, eating healthy and reducing the environmental footprint - a rising social and cultural movement even before the pandemic - as an opportunity for English-speaking and bilingual gardeners across the region to connect despite physical distancing measures.

Both novice and experienced gardeners meet Thursday evenings via online video conferencing to share experience and tips, consult, learn something new, and inspire each other. A different special guest is invited to join us regularly, usually a farmer or gardening expert, to speak on a specific topic. It’s a great way to share or develop a passion for gardening, and to meet new people from a variety of backgrounds. There is also a private Facebook group for exchanging photos, asking questions, and sharing info. As of July 2020, in-person outings are being planned. Stay tuned!
This project is made possible by funding from the Secretariat for Relations with English-speaking Quebecers / Secrétariat aux relations avec les Québécois d’expression anglaise.
