The MCQ Social Exchange is a project which aims to celebrate and enrich the lives of residents of retirement age and beyond who live in the Mauricie-Centre-du-Québec region.

Goals:

  • To fill the social-interaction gap many residents live with

  • To help connect individuals and communities separated by large geographical distances or by limitations on travel due to winter weather

  • To create an opportunity for those aged 55 years and over to share memories, discuss topics of mutual interest, meet new people, explore ideas, and express themselves creatively in a safe, friendly and non-judgmental environment.

Participants in the Social Exchange join in conversation, engage with each other on a wide range of topics, and get to know new people in a warm atmosphere. Members occasionally have the opportunity to participate in intergenerational, creative or other community events and initiatives. The group’s core values include acceptance and non-judgment, friendship, and respect for all.

Meetings take place via video conferencing using Zoom, Thursday afternoons from 1:30 to 3:30pm.  New members are always welcome! Technical support and training in the use of Zoom is available.

This project is made possible by funding from the Secretariat for Relations with English-speaking Quebecers / Secrétariat aux relations avec les Québécois d’expression anglaise.
